George W Bush was at the Shaw Conference Centre here in town and while I don’t really know how much good it does, I stopped by to smile and watch the people yell and stomp their feet. Here’s a couple video’s I took:
It’s always nice to see people who’s spirits haven’t been crushed. Though I gotta say that while I obviously am not a big Bush fan (I swear I didn’t even think of the double meaning until I read over this… true in so many ways…) I don’t really blame him, exactly. I mean, you look at the family he grew up in and the way he was raised, you can’t be surprised at how things turned out. I’m happy as hell that Obama got in over Mccain, but really, there isn’t much difference between one corporate sponsored candidate and the next. I’m starting to see the way these people run their country not as a problem, but as a symptom of the problem.
The best part was definitely the lone Bush supporter (well, the only one who was there, but didn’t pay 175 dollars to see him speak), the one who had the courage to stand up in the crowd and yell “Thank You Bush!” over and over (and the guy who was taking pictures of everyone, saying we were all communists, he was pretty sweet, too). I’m not kidding either when I say she was courageous. She believed in something, and she had the balls to come out and tell us. Fortunately for me, personally, she couldn’t spell. Look at the pictures of her sign so I can make fun of them.
Ok, so for anyone who has to squint to make those out (these are two sides of the same sign) I’ll type it out here. Side 1: “Thank You, President Bush, – the Soldiers and all that make the World a safer, free place to live, the police too Thank You. And there’s cures for cancers and desease and everything, we can all look at them together” Not too bad. She doesn’t understand how capitals and punctuation work, and the part about cancer is confusing, but the only word she misspelled disease… Side 2 (much harder to read…) : “Is it ok that they cashed the planes in to builds and killed 3000 people You go Live there. Is it ok that Iraqes have nothing Is it ok that Afgan have and they kill them”. No, ma’am. I don’t think it’s ok that they cashed planes into builds. And I certainly wouldn’t like to live there. Ok, I’ll stop picking on the poor woman.
Anyways, I hung out for an hour and a half or so, talked to some people. It was fun. Here’s a few more pictures:
