transcendant man

This is a documentary about Ray Kurzweil, should be coming out this year sometime:

I just want to clarify one thing, in the trailer it says he wants to ‘bring his dad back to life’. When he actually explains what he means by this, he wants to take a human level AI (when they are invented) and feed into it all his fathers books and diaries and friends and relatives memories of him. Take all the information that still exists about who his father was and see how closely he can create an intelligence that matches his father.

Just sounds less crazy that way when you explain what he actually wants to do. Not Frankenstein shit or anything.

Ray also has his own movie coming out called “The Singularity is Near: A True Story About the Future”, which I believe is about humanity overcoming some of the problems people foresee with all the technologies he talks about. There’s no trailer for that one yet.

There is also ANOTHER movie coming out about this stuff called ‘The Singularity’:

Man people do like to focus on the negative. Notice they interviewed Leon Panetta (CIA Director and Clinton’s Chief of Staff) and Richard Clarke (Chief counter-terrorism advisor to Bush and Clinton).

S’why I like watching Ray talk (just search youtube for videos of him), he always focuses on the amazing possibilities for good things. He doesn’t completely ignore the bad possibilities, but instead talks about possible solutions and ways to prevent problems.
